For organisations

For centres and projects that support refugees in Berlin: how we work with you, from your first request to a volunteer on site.

How we match volunteers

1You send a request
Register your organisation and create a request in the dashboard: regular volunteering, an accompaniment to an appointment or an event. Tell us what is needed, when, where and in which languages. Accompaniments need to be requested at least 7 working days before the appointment.
2We prepare the volunteers
We call every new volunteer after they register, to get to know their languages, experience and what they want to do. Volunteers for accompaniments also join an online briefing. We help volunteers apply for the extended certificate of good conduct (EFZ) and check the proof of measles vaccination where needed.
3We match
Our coordinators look for the right person by language and dialect, district, availability and activity, from our pool and from your own volunteers on the platform.
4You get a suggestion, then an introduction
When a volunteer fits, we send you and the volunteer an introduction email with everyone's contact details. Please invite the volunteer to a first meeting within 5 to 7 working days and put us in CC. If it doesn't fit, tell us and we keep looking.
5If we can't find anyone
For accompaniments we let you know at the latest 4 working days before the appointment, so you can plan.
6The volunteer starts, and we stay in touch
About once a month we ask whether your offers are still up to date and how it's going with the volunteers. If someone stops, we look for a new match.

The Need4Deed dashboard

Beyond the matching, the dashboard is a tool your team can use every day, also with volunteers you found yourselves.

1Your volunteers in one place
Manage your own volunteers and requests, and see volunteers from our pool. If you want, share your volunteers with other organisations, one contact at a time and only with the volunteer's consent.
2Hours and appreciation
Log the hours a volunteer has volunteered for each match, and keep track of appreciation such as certificates.
3Posts and tagging
Write general questions or searches in the posts, reply to each other and tag each other. Whoever is tagged gets an email.
4Open source, hosted in Switzerland
The dashboard is open source, runs 100% in Europe, hosted in Switzerland, and is GDPR compliant.
